"Type" as in typography—or in other words "fonts". We all have to choose them and use them on a daily basis. Even if you're not in a creative field, I know you type emails or make a flyer for school every once in a while. However, in all cases and circumstances, please do not use Comic Sans. I know it looks enticing on the drop-down menu, but it is the equivalent of free clip art. It cannot be taken seriously—and that goes for anything you're trying to say—even if it's supposed to be funny. Either way, it masks the true sentiment of your words.
When in doubt use the classics. Less is more. Clean, modern typefaces support what you're trying to say in a louder voice than something that is written in a funky, bubble font. If you ever want to refer to the gold standards in typefaces check out the font bundles curated by Chris Do here.
Textiles Lately.
We "finished" our house last January, meaning we moved in. Since then we've been layering, editing, and adding the things to make it home. Prints and patterns are one of those powerful tools that do this for me. It takes me so long to pick a wallpaper or fabric pattern that feels right. They feel so potent in my very neutral-forward design aesthetic, that I almost treat them like hot sauce. Too much is painful, not enough is bland, but just the right amount makes everything else sing.
Here is my Textiles Pinterest board for our house.
